Container Building with Roof Terrace for Stays

This is a container building arranged vertically, and the arrangement is the design. A long single-storey module forms the base; above part of it sits an open roof terrace enclosed by a steel railing; and above the terrace, a second module cantilevers out over the space below on inclined steel columns.

The result is a building with an outdoor floor, an overhanging upper volume, and a profile that does not look like stacked boxes. The lower module is the main enclosed space — olive-green corrugated panels with glazing across its front, full-height glass with white frames and curtains behind, so the interior reads as habitable rather than industrial. The terrace occupies the roof of the lower module, bounded by a black steel railing of vertical bars and horizontal rails on slim black posts at the open end — a genuine outdoor floor of substantial size facing whatever the building has been oriented towards. The upper module is carried out over the terrace edge on two inclined steel columns running from the ground to its underside; a cantilever on visible diagonals gives the building two-storey presence without doubling the footprint. The upper unit has white panelling on its flank, corrugated cladding on its face, glazing on the end wall, and small fittings — lighting and a camera housing — mounted at its corners where they can be reached. Beside it, a second white container unit with glazed doors and windows and a small orange sign reads as a separate room in the same complex.

Container Building with Roof Terrace for Stays Description

  1. An outdoor floor, not just a roof — a large, railed, accessible deck used as a room without walls; in many warm locations it’s where people actually spend their time.
  2. A cantilever that gives two levels on one footprint — the upper module overhangs on inclined columns, so the building gains a second floor without a second footprint; decisive on a compound, hillside terrace, or narrow commercial strip.
  3. A profile that stands out without decoration — olive-green cladding, white-framed glazing, and a black railing do the visual work; the offset between modules creates shadow lines; recognisable from a distance by shape and colour, not signage.
  4. Glazing across the main front — brings daylight deep into the interior and shows the inside from outside; suits a reception area, showroom, or guest room.
  5. Olive-green, low-glare cladding — sits quietly in forest, coastal, or rural landscapes; doesn’t show dust and handling marks like pale or glossy surfaces; corrugated panels take knocks without denting visibly.
  6. Railing and posts that define the deck — vertical bars and horizontal rails give a clear edge and safe boundary; slim posts support the open end without blocking views.
  7. A structurally honest cantilever — inclined columns are visible from outside and take the upper module’s load directly to the ground; buyers can see how the overhang is carried — matters for engineers, inspectors, and technical teams.

Container Building with Roof Terrace for Stays Applications

  1. Camp reception and administration blocks — reception below, offices and records above, terrace for waiting and briefing; glazed front shows the interior from the gate.
  2. View lodges and observation accommodation — the terrace is the viewing platform, the glazed front the second-best seat; the cantilevered floor gives a second elevated room; olive finish keeps the building recessive in the landscape.
  3. Resorts and glamping complexes — a main building anchoring a site of smaller cabins: reception, café or bar, terrace between activities; the white unit serves as store or staff room.
  4. Showrooms and display buildings — the building itself demonstrates the construction: glazed ground floor for displays, terrace for outdoor exhibits or events, upper floor for meetings.
  5. Restaurants, cafés and bars with outdoor seating — ground floor serves, terrace seats; glazed front presents the counter to the street; the railed deck with planting becomes the reason customers choose this venue.
  6. Rural, farm and vineyard hospitality — accommodation or a tasting room on a working property; muted green cladding sits among trees and fields; terrace looks out over the land; modules reconfigure if the operation changes.
  7. Creative studios and workshops — glazed working floor below, terrace for materials and outdoor work, upper room for storage or design; the white unit as office or darkroom.
