The photo shows one member — a single piece of fabricated steel — but it stands for the service that produced it. A heavy C-channel, sandblasted to clean grey steel, with its end plate drilled, a cross-member welded in, and a mounting bracket fitted: this is what made-to-drawing fabrication looks like when it leaves the shop.
At the end nearest the camera, the flanges stop, the base plate carries on, and four bolt holes run in a row through the extension — a connection ready-made: offer the member up to its support, drop bolts through pre-drilled holes, and the joint is made without drilling on site. The light markings around the holes are layout marks from the drilling process — work that was measured, marked, and machined, not eyeballed. A third of the way along, a cross-member is welded between the side walls, stiffening the section where the load lands, with a vertical bracket and two mounting holes beside it — features added because the drawing called for them. Smaller holes run along the flange tops, ready for whatever the member carries or attaches to next.
